I think you are right that you have to get you technology out to the market, try and get an initial passionate user and see what sticks. But I think a lot of productive work can go into how your throw it out and how you go about attracting passionate lead users. Attention to such details will help increase your innovation success.

Definitely, I had the impression the statements in that piece were not qualified, only supported with few quotes.
