NOKIA rubber boots
For some people around who are not aware of it, finnish company Nokia also does rubber boots. Well actually I don’t know if they still do that but before entering into the phone business, they manufactured pretty cool rubber boots like the following one (lady walking boot). Have a look at the old logo, I don’t understand why it’s written nokian? but a finnish friend attested that it’s true.

(found here)
You can also check here for more contextual Nokia rubber boots (it’s a finnish website about a geological trip).
Update! Janne from http://www.schizoblog.net tells me that “
Nokia made rubber boots and cables before it got to the phone business. Company also manufactured tyres for cars. Nowadays there’s a company called “Nokian renkaat” (Nokia Tyres) which continues the tradition of original compaby. Yet, it’s totally different company. There’s same kind of arrangements with the old rubber boots section of the company and it’s called “Nokian jalkineet” (Nokian footwear): http://www.nokianfootwear.fi/nen
It’s independent company and it got nothing to do with the Nokia. So, now you know why the company is called “Nokian” (because it’s not the Nokia :-)).” Thank you Janne!

I’m off for three days in Finland to buy some fancy boots. Given the crisis they are facing over there, maybe I should rather invest in a Sanitary Chair. Via designboom….

Nokian have been mading rubberboots for a long time, longer then cell phones. And hey do yo wanna hear another thing?? they are mading tires to! that is also really fresh news, but compared to the phone news, then the phones are fresher news

“NOKIAN” as a finnish word means “NOKIA’S” in english, so NOKIAN RENKAAT means NOKIA’S TIRES in english. The small different in the name was done to prevent mix-ups between tires, rubber boots and cellphones (?!)

I just bought a pair of Nokia rubber boots at a second hand shop in SF. They are really comfortable, and a wonderful green color, but I’d never seem them before. How funny they are made by the phone people…

I have a great pair of Nokia High top rubber boots with ice studs in the soles. The studs are pretty worn so I am looking to replace them — problem is I can’t find any in spite of much Googling. If anybody can help with this I would be eternally grateful.

I have the same pair of boots with NOKIA on them. They were made before the companies separated their activities. The logo is the same as on the phones today. The rubber part of the company became NOKIAN at some point in the last years (mine are from the ’80s, so they have the original logo).
