[Future] My notes on Bruce Sterling’s talk in munich
Here are my notes on Bruce Sterling’s talk in Munich. It was about his spime concept.
Shaping Things to Come: there are six trends, convergent and integral part of a general concept, six sides of a black box:
- interactive ships, objects can be labelles with unique identity
- local and precise positioning systems
- powerful search engines
- 3d virtual models of objects
- rapid prototyping of objects
- cradle to cradle recycling

Your notes are excellent, cheers. The spime concept as explained by bruce sterling was a bit fuzzy. But as a dynamic, malleable signifier it makes more sense. They can be e.g. signal, code, uri, barcode etc. and the medium may change but the information remains. Metadata = spime?
