The illmatic’s journal

Fake blogs can really be brilliant. This from the dear leader:

Dear diary. Bush still doesn’t ‘get it.’ I tried making my feelings clear but he’s too busy ignoring me, he is such a jerk. Everything in his life is just Saddam, Saddam, Saddam and I am sick of it.

On the plus side, I think my hair looked pretty good today. Also I went frolicking at Paektu Mountain and the rainbow came out again. After dinner some of my subjects sang me a song because I invented Outer Space.

A good laugh :) (thx Marco)

Cheap Inspiration Officer

Posted: November 13th, 2007 | No Comments »

“Chief of inspiration” sounds like a huge imposture mixed with a permanent lie. “Inspiration officer” sounds as cool as “creativity feldmarschall”.

All these words combined ? Chief Inspiration Officer, one of the job titles of the future (oh really) and a huge proof that the company who uses it does NOT get how innovation and inspiration work in a connected world.

Fans of “this blog has moved”

I have a very loyal fan base on Technorati as this screenshot will prove.

Technorati

Thanks to Hugh, Pedro and the anonymous mister sand13 for staying with me through these hard times. Technorati, the measuring stick of the blogosphere’s egological environment, does not offer a “my old blog address equals my new blog address” feature. So moving your blog means losing all your hard earned fame. A new URL is a one way ticket to the hated “authority 0″ and “no blogs are linking here” hells.

So here I am, a Z-lister again, back at the bottom of a 100 million blogs pile, claiming this site to start regaining a decent spot on the ultra competitive *g* swiss top 100 blogs list.

The world longest commercial URL

Or at least a very very serious competitor. Seen on a flyer in the Paimpol harbour yesterday:

parc-animalier-zoo-parc-de-loisirs-cotesarmor.lavalleedautrefois.com

68 characters to reach the site of a zoo somewhere in Brittany. That’s making your customers’ life easier :)

The negative views

Posted: June 7th, 2007 | No Comments »

Google has a particularly buggy application out there: Google Videos. Uploads fail quite often, videos suddenly become “unavailable”, stats show zeros everyday for ten hours (probably when the whole count updates), etc… It’s in beta so I don’t complain. But a funny bug just showed up this morning: the negative view count.

I am just curious to know how users can “un-view” some of our LIFT talks… And the 6 negative views are on Bruce Sterling‘s talk, is there a conspiracy theory somewhere?

South Korea: an award for drinking workers

Posted: May 16th, 2007 | No Comments »

The South Korean county of Koesan has decided it will discontinue giving out its “Drinking Culture Prize” after being flooded with complaints that the award promotes drunkenness among municipal employees and encouraged binge drinking.A county official said Wednesday the public misunderstood the intention of the award, which was meant to recognize government workers who go out to local restaurants and bars to meet citizens and hear what they have to say.

No comment, see you in Seoul ;)

Conference invitations: the videos

Posted: May 8th, 2007 | No Comments »

Picnic shot this very interesting video to promote Amsterdam and the conference in 2006.

Fascinating. I wonder what would happen to my sponsoring budget if I was using that kind of tactics here in Switzerland. And Guido Van Nispen (PicNic board) just told me over skype that “this year we will be pushing it more of course”. Can’t wait.
