Posted: November 26th, 2008 | 1 Comment »It’s a bit hard to believe it’s a first, but after storied appearances in movies a home robot now made it to a theater.
Tuesday marked the theatrical debut for the Wakamaru, which appeared onstage alongside real-life actors in a play that’s being hailed as a first in robot-human artistic collaboration. Hataraku Watashi (“I, Worker”), by playwright Oriza Hirata, focuses on a couple who own two housekeeping robots, one of which loses its motivation to work.





No it’s not a first, for sure. In New York Robots appeared on stage already like musicians performing contemporary musical performance. I know one of the performer but not at all about the performance itself.

Robosonic Eclectic is presented as part of the New York Electronic Art Festival (NYEAF) http://www.nyeaf.org, a month-long celebration of cutting-edge electronic music performed at various venues from May 12 – June 10, 2007.
but i assume earlier, more similar events happens at IRCAM in Paris, managed by Pierre Boulez among others.
