I have a strategy of going through my rss feeds in google reader and any that have "100+" i tend to put off reading, and sometimes just delete them altogether. Others that have a couple of new feeds per day only I can manage quite nicely and do read. The other thing that keeps me reading is if you can see all of the feed in the reader. Partial feeds I tend to ignore too. But as you can see, having the full feed available doesn't stop someone coming to the web site! I have encountered good blogs, that I have unsubscribed to, because I cannot handle 12 + posts per day. Similarly, I am actively trying to limit myself to less frequent more meaty posts on my own blog. Short frequent stuff should be in Twitter.
