China is just two years away from catching up on Europe’s level of spending on research and development, a study showed on Monday.

    A few caveats:
    - R&D spending figures are strongly dependent on domestic definitions.
    - Spending in R&D does not automatically convert into innovation
    - A lot of Chinese R&D is actually conducted by foreign companies…
