Skype gets banned

Seems like Skype is getting blocked by an increasing number of countries.

– China Telecom is trying to protect its business model » blocked!

– French authorities ban Skype in universities and research centers because of security and bandwidth » blocked!

– The University of Oxford forbids the usage of Skype citing security concerns » blocked!

Are these maneuvers desperate attempts to protect dying business models, or should we really be concerned about Skype security?

I thought YOU are the IT expert around here… so why don’t you tell us whether it is a security hazard :-)

let’s start a public debate on the meaning of “IT” before we continue ;-)
I have to admit my complete ignorance when it comes to the inner secrets of TCP/IP and the other under-the-hood protocols.
